So upon our travels around New Zealand, the wife spots this http://www.hopfederation.co.nz. A small road side shack offering samples and craft beer for sale.

So in I go, only to be faced with twelve sample beer pumps:-o

Only issue was I was only allowed 5 samples, and only if I was buying something. Otherwise they would let you taste two. Which is still pretty cool for someone walking into the brewery from the road.

Anyway I tried some, and amazing NZ pilsner,:thumb: a double IPA, which was pretty good an amber ale, a session IPA and a lager

Ended up with a 2l bottle of the pilsner and a four pack of the session IPA to take to friends for Christmas Day.

For anyone travelling in this neck of the world I would highly recommend these brewers beers.

The brewery is slap bang in the middle of NZ,s hop country, there are endless field of hops growing, was amazing to see.

Have been slurping the generic NZ beers, tui, spieghts, db. But these are like having a brew dog or Williams bros against a carling!

Aside for England obviously best place in the world!

I was quite surprised at the quality of the beer over there when we visited about 8 years back. Not only the beer but some truly great wine too with many vineyards allowing you to pop in, sample and purchase which we obviously did a bit of :)

Didn't happen across the place above when we visited though if we are ever able to go again it will be on the list :thumb:

This pub is well worth a visit too: http://www.moutereinn.co.nz/

Only place I'd been to in NZ where they had beer on hand pumps.

Will be driving past that on the way to the ferry tomorrow....pity have no time to call in. Next time😀

I'm going to NZ in Feb next year and plan to go to a few breweries...will add this to my list of possible destinations. :thumb:

Also stopped in at mikes brewery just north of New Plymouth. Very friendly people and some great beers. Tried their black berry IPA which was a home brew comp winner turned into a production beer.

I might be going this or next year. I'll add a brewery tour to my itinerary.:thumb:
