I've just come back from a weeks Hols in Dorset. We were staying just a short walk from Palmers Brewery, in Bridport, so I booked myself in for a Tour.

The Palmers have owned the Brewery since the late Nineteenth Century, but it's been on site since 1794.

The Brewery sits on the River Brit, and used to be Water Driven. The Brewery owns the land to the left of this picture, up the Hill to it's very own Spring!

It was an interesting tour; lasted about 2 Hours and ended up in the Palmers Wine Store where we got to sample some beers and collect our Palmers half Pint glass!

Fantastic post Halfcrem. Do you know if they use there own proprietry yeast? Did you ask for some?

Our Tour guide was not an expert on the Technicalities of brewing, unfortunately. I asked him if they use the same yeast for all their brews and he confirmed they did, but didn't know anything beyond that. I didn't ask to pick any up, but they have their own Yeast storage closet! I like the way it looks like it could contain the lav!

Excellent post and photos and very informative
Its a hi viz world gone mad I see (just a bug bear of mine)

good post...I visited it a couple of years ago...but before I started all grain brewing so did not make mental notes of the grain and hops etc. It is their own yeast strain they use..we were allowed to poke our fingers in it (they had a football sized solid ball of it in a bucket)...which didn't seem right to me but....
