Last day of production of this famous dark beer on Tyneside.
Admittedly, not a patch on what it used to be......but still a sad day.

I've lots of family in the north east and feel a kind of affinity with this beer.
I can still hear my Uncle Jimmy saying "Bottle-a-dog please" and see him topping up his half pint glass almost continually.

Very sad indeed, always hate seeing things like this - and people losing their jobs.

it is a sad day indeed, but maybe now its being moved to the John Smiths plant they might start brewing it to the original recipe rather that the p*** water that the call NBA now.

Nice thought, but I can't see it happening myself. If anything, after a beer moves away from "home" it usually takes a turn for the worse!
