If your looking to add the finishing touches to your sight glass, like the V1 version.

You need a plastic ball !

I looked at these about 18 months ago, so the price may have changed and more companies may do them now.

I got samples from the The Precision Plastic Ball Company Limited and Dejay Distribution

The ones I asked for were:-

5.5mm dia, red Polyproylene
6mm dia, green Polyproylene
6.5mm dia, red Polyproylene
1/4" dia, green hollow HDPE from TPPBCL

and 3/16" dia, green Polyproylene from Dejay

Unfortunatly there is a minimum order, about £30, but they cost pennies. Maybe Paul at Barley bottom might get some in :?:

They float and are food grade, just pick one smaller than your internal diameter (ID) of your tube.
If you already have a sight glass, just pop it the top

My overflow is lower than top of sight glass, so the ball will not come out inadvertantly.
If I need to clean my balls   I just block the overflow and fill up

Some not so good pics:-

Good point V1

I can just my balls floating in a pint :)

Use a smaller hole and fitting at the bottom and an adapter to increase size  for the tube.
You could also add a small ball valve at the bottom in case the sight glass breaks and you don't want to lose your contents.
