Hi all,

My local HBS has some Summer Hops on special and i thought they might make a nice blonde ale. Has anyone used them?

Got 25g of Styrian Golding left no sure if they would complement or maybe help with bittering as i have read summer can be quite "light".

Thinking of something like:

1.5kg muntons light DME
1 kg Pale Malt (2 Row)
350 g cara pils
225g crystal malt 10L
225g Vienna malt

25g Styrain Golding 60ms
20g Summer 60ms

then 15g summer at 30, 20, 10 & 5

any help advice most welcome

That looks ok, without running it through a brewing calculator. Have you done that? How many litres you making?

I have a packet of Summer hops but not used them yet.

thanks for reply. Aiming to make 21 L. Brew Target gives an IBU of 26 and IBU/GU of 0.60.

Planning to do it next week. I've got a first attempt at a Timothy Taylor landlord just about ready to bottle, had a couple of pints of it on a recent visit to Whitby and my better half loved it.
