Blackpool pleasure beaches Big Dipper is 100 years old i have ridden it many times but preferred the Grand National, there is something about wooden coasters you dont get from modern ones, probably the feeling it may fall to pieces and kill you at any moment

The drops never look as step as they actually are on video.

Have members here been on both?

No, but I know what you mean about old wooden coasters from the one they had at Dreamland Margate back in my youth.

Yes. Many years ago. Also the mouse trap (I think it was called). It had metal bands holding the timbers together. It was scary to watch the cracks in the wood open and close despite the metal bands
