WARNING THIS THREAD CONTAINS INFORMATION WHICH SOME VIEWERS MAY FIND SHOCKING

Yes Graysalchemy has dusted off the mash tun filled the HLT and will be mashing later on for an overnight mash.

In accordance with my new strict health regime I have lowered the ABV of this to a more respectable session beer strength 5.5% from its original 7.5%. I have kept the 10, 5 and 0 Min hops the same but reduced the bittering to reduce the IBU's but maintaining the BU:GU and thus the balance of he beer (hopefully).

Odd Job 5.5%

More to folow in due course. :thumb:

That's a big hop bill! I bet it smells great.

5.5% 'session beer'? :D and that only allows for 75% attenuation from the us-05, and no priming. They'll be good sessions!

Please can you tell me how you get Brewmate to export weights like that? Mine just exports %ages. Maybe you edit it manually?

Hope it goes well.

export it as normal and not forum friendly. :thumb:

It is based on St Austells Proper Job IPA but clearly not an IPA.

Cheers :thumb: Forum unfriendly it is.

A bit of black malt in that, and you'd have a lovely Black IPA.

good god! mods actually brewing! and heres me thinking the only reason they organise TST is so they can actually drink homebrew.

This Mod does brew but not as often as one would like, mainly because I brew 55l at a time which takes a few months to consume.

that seems like a pretty fair reason, will any of this be making its way to TST?

Glucan rest mini mash on.

The oats are mashed with 20% by weight of pale malt at 35-40c (I managed 37c) for 30 mins then raise the temp up to the mash temp and add to mash at the start.

I will get going on the mash shortly. :thumb:

The mash is on.

How on Earth do you manage to get 82% brewhouse efficiency?! I struggle to get 60%.
