Quick question. I was cleaning the auto syphon last night after filling a bottling bucket when a small back circular bit with 2 prongs fell out of the end of the syphon. I then broke one of the legs trying to get it back in

Is this piece vital or will the syphon be OK without this bit?

Thanks

Sounds horribly like it might be the clever bit: the valve that stops the beer squirting back into the FV when you "plunge". My guess is it's terminal, but there's only one way to find out...

That's what I was thinking  There must be some kind of value to give some pressure to start it off and I guess that's the valve. I've got a FV full of Oxy that I need to move to the bottling bucket tonight to I'll try it. I think I'll need to get a new one before the next bottling session though

Just so you know, , it's broken so replacement required. Be careful cleaning these.
