I’d like to see Henderson in midfield. Phillips grew into the game on Wednesday but during the first half he was poor - another start like that tomorrow and I can see Italy taking advantage.

Italy play a 4-3-3 so I reckon the same 3 will start against Italy. I’d bring Sancho/Foden in for Saka though, despite the assist he’s just a big team Duncan Watmore.
Just goes to prove , you can’t send boys in to do men’s work, you would have thought Southgate had more experience and knowledge than this, such a shame 🤦🏻‍♂️
 
Italy deserved the win. Fair to say they were the better side.

Defo, england went into hiding after a great start. That said italy didnt really have many (any?) chances with all there possession, even the goal came off a cows ****. Shame for Rashford, an awful penalty but someone who rightfully seems like a proper role model.

I thought at the start of the tournament that England had a very good chance. Probably the best squad of players a long with France. Italy and Spain are rebuilding and don't have the super stars that they once had.
Southgate set England up to not lose which seems a common theme now In the English prem.

I thought england could get to the semis, bit I wouldn't have said it out loud. I thought France would win it though.

Big time but the draw fell well for England. Southgate set his team up for tournament football. I honestly think that with the players they should be taking it to team's.
 
Who would you have as player of the tournament? Italy didn't always fire on all cylinders in attack, but I think Chiesa was quality for them throughout. A constant threat to defences in every game, and when he was forced off by injury tonight, I thought Italy lost a lot. And then they have Chiellini. Whadda guy he is.
 
Overall, Italy played better in my opinion, but it ended up one each. Penalties is a stupid way of resolving a draw; why not toss a coin? When it comes to the final, why can't there be a draw?
Still, it's better than watching Boris taking all the credit. I didn't see him in the crowd. Too busy running the country, I suppose. 😂

Possibly, but england are so used to failure and the **** they get from the media that perhaps southgate felt they needed to play like that. To grow in confidence etc. Still a very young side.

I don't know if this is just my unreliable memory, but it seems to me that in every tournament I can remember, there has been some kind of tabloid press campaign against the national team, whether it was WAGs (remember them? Never mentioned now), or David Beckham. Maybe Murdoch thought it best to keep his attack dogs off this time. Southgate has handled everything very well.

Spinazzola was a contender until he snapped his Achilles.

You should be proud.
You have one of the best leagues in the world; you have your entire squad in the country (I think the only one who plays abroad is Trippier); a lot of young talent; final of the Champions between English; final in the Eurocopa; semi-finals in Russia.
As Bielsa says, "Success is an exception, because people usually develop, fight, strive and win from time to time. Very from time to time."
To all this, Brazil vs Argentina and England vs Italy were two shitty games. But there is no doubt that the four of them did their merits to reach the finals.
Keep up the good football.

I didn't think England/Italy was a shitty game at all. But I was going to watch the Brazil/Argentina game later. Was it really that bad? (I don't know the result)

Maybe I exaggerated with today's game, but yesterday's I expected more than three or four goal options per team. We are talking about top teams, you can always ask for more.
