Woodfords Tinsel
Clean tasting, nothing spicy though or happy. Lacking something.

Opened this Malbec last night to ahh let it breathe (fell asleep before having a glass) and it’s much better for it. Some salmon fish cakes to help it along. Then might visit some vintage port and cheese. View attachment 59656
Ah ha!
Long breathing a wine.
That old cycling wine writer Malcolm Gluck would agree, and be proud of you.
He used to decant into clear glass and stick it outside (covered) for a day.
He delighted in befuddling snooty wine buff /writers who would go all 'top end classic' when it was a supermarket, well made, but cheepo plonk!
But he did know a wine's potential from hyped-up dross.

Aldi ginger wine. For £3 this is amazing! Pity I don’t have any single malt to put in it!

Lisa please make your own, it's easy and you can get quite a kick. 100g ginger root, grated,1.5kg sugar, 100g minced raises, zest and juice 2 lemons, 5g each white wine yeast and nutrient. To make 4.5l. Make in January for next year.

I normally decant red wine at least 6 hrs before I look to drink it and it does improve the taste. I read recently that the only way to aerate a red wine at home is to put it in the blender. Some wine snobs about. Can’t beat a bottle of yellowtail in any of their styles.

Tonight's Brewdog advent calendar beer. Good example of the style, but they are all a bit samey to my unsophisticated pallette. However, I imagine people say that about cask bitter, so it isn't meant as a criticism, other than of my limited tasting skills.

Lidl have the 6 box of Belgian beers for about £12 in stick again. Last time they did this, I drank all in one night, and got told off by wifey for being "******", which I deny. Well, not so much deny as claim, with all honesty, to not remember being ******.

So, I'll take them steady this time. First up, this lovely, tasty, spicy triple.

I did that last year and it deterred me from Woodfordes and Muntons. Totally underwhelming.
Yes, it's one you'll drink, nothing wrong(as in off flavour or anything) with it, but after 1 glass would move on, just lacking something. If I were to make it again, I'd want to pimp it. Spice, orange peel or something,; dry hop....brewed well enough, no agro, just expecting ... flavour
