I've only done 1 brew so far which everyone says is great and most of bit was kegged to put on my handpull. However I bottled some and they turned out even better so I am keen to bottle more next time.
What's this baking method you talk about with regards to bottle cleaning ?

Wash the bottles, swill the bottles, stack them in the oven - I can get maybe 30 in there lying on their sides, turn the oven on for maybe 20 or 30 minutes then turn it off and let them cool. Some people take them out and put foil on until they're ready to go and maybe put another batch in. I used to just wait until they're cool enough to handle. It definitely made the bottling day less miserable as for me it was two fillNswills less.

thanks Drunkula that's a good tip I'll try it next time. What temp oven ?

What temp oven ?
I normally just put it on "whatever" but just looked it up and 15 to 20 minutes on gas mark 1 / 140c is enough. By the time the bottles get to 72c it's only 15 seconds to pasteurise them.

Just remember bottles in first, then heat on to limit temperature shock. I've not had any break but somebody on here did. I've got tons of crappy Koppaberg bottles, too, and they've still not broken with 3.5 vols of carbonation and gushers. I'm due a blitzkreig if there's cosmic balance.

I do wash/swill after consumption, then dishwasher on hottest wash cycle (but no detergent) a day or two before bottling. Flip-top bottles, so just flip them shut while still hot coming out of the dishwash. I'm batch priming at the mo, so next time they get opened is when the beer goes into them.
