Hi.

I'm at a loss this morning for something to do, and have 1kg of crushed malt and some gervin ale yeast.

What results could I expect from mashing/boiling the malt then fermenting with the yeast? Would the lack of any hop addition during the boil result in something undrinkable, or is it worth giving it a go?

Given it a go, following the guide elsewhere on the forum. I'm about to start the boil now, but I've ended up with 8l of wort, can it be boiled down to 4.5 litres at all to fit in an FV? Or do I split it between 2?

What's the gravity?

Gravity before a boil is 1.036.

I'm assuming it still needs a boil to sterilise before fermenting.. Or can I take a risk and bung it into an FV with yeast, to dry hop later?

And after an hours boil, SG is 1.065.

Cooling off now before going into an FV, and going to dry hop with Saaz hops later this week!
