Could always insulate the outside for better heat loss figures, and make sure the top is good (and insulated)

Good idea, I think I'll make a mash tun cosy out of something reflective.

I've fashioned a cosy from a reflective insulated car windscreen sunshade and plenty of gaffa tape. Should hopefully hold on to an extra C or two.
