Adding ingredients

Hi if using a beer or wine kit is it possible or recommended to add extra ingredients like ginger lime or other random fresh items? Also other packs of hops to add extra taste? If so what stage should I add these?

for extra hop flavour make a hop tea and add just before bottling / kegging

+1 to that. I did it with my last brew, and added priming sugar at the same time. It has made quite a difference!

Yes Generally Nice things in = nice flavour out just be sparring with anything with a strong flavour,

one of my c*ck ups was to add a tin of molasses to a ginger-beer brew, a spoonful may have successful, a tin full was overpoweringly bad...
