A non brewing mate of mine really loves this beer so I was bragging I could brew it for him. Anyone know the grain bill? It's a kind of porter. Just realised I posted this question under the wine and cider forum! I had just come back from the pub.
 
If you look on the Bath Ales Web-site it gives you most of the ingredients there.

Colour 65 EBC


Maris Otter...4600g
Torrified Wheat...500g
Crystal 120....200g
Chocolate Malt...150g


Bramling Cross...50g @ 60mins
Bramling Cross...50g @ 5mins

SO-5 yeast
 
87% pale
5% crystal
1% choc another 2% thrown in just before the end of the mash
5% wheat

mash low around 64C

BX to bitter 15 IBUs
BX 15mins from end 5 IBUs
BX flame out same weight as the 15min addition start chilling and allow hops to stay in for 20-30mins

ferment on whitbread yeast 1099

helps when you live around the corner from the brewery :shock:

if you chuck the choc in at the end you get the colour and some sweetness with out the astringency.

Gem their other brew is

89% pale
5% crystal
5% wheat
1% choc

challenger to low 20IBU

golding 15min and golding finish and dry hop

and if you want to get really picky their yeast isn't whitbread it a derivative but thats as close as you can get off the shelf
