Hi all was changing taps in bathroom today and just as I finished I broke a fitting on hot tap
All shops are shut now so i have to leave hot water turned off is it safe to have the gas heating on now
Will pressure build up or something not sure without being able to use hot taps in the house

Switch the 'Hot Water' off on your heating programmer. The heating can run fine as Soupdragon said, they are independent systems. Even if the hot water was to come on, the hot boiler water would just run through a copper coil inside your HW cylinder full of air, presuming you have drained it. Not desireable, but not dangerous.

Do you know what type of boiler you have?
Combi (no hot water cylinder) or a traditional system.
Either way I can't think of a massive problem unless you had a direct cylinder which is rare these days.

There is no issue as taps are designed to be turned on and off on demand and for safety's sake there will be a thermostat fitted most likely to a motorised valve to limit the temperature in your hot tank and failing that there will also be a pressure relief valve so no worries.
