hi
would steam work for cleaning my 25ltr plastic drum to make cider in .
the mrs has a steam clener was thinking of putting the hose into the drum to kill off the nastys will it owrk ?

many thanks

Considering what happened to my PET DJs when OH put them in front of our open fire to dry - they distorted with the heat - I wouldn't let OH loose with her steam cleaner on anything!

to be truly effective... And this is taking to to the extreems of total sterility, you need the steam to be at 121°c for 15 min. Having said that you need to boil something for 24hrs to make it sterile.

i would stick to the fluids, i don't have any facts about those so i can't worry about it!

I sterilise FV's with videne then steam them up side down with a steamer hose for about 15-20 mins. That is what I have just done hope it is OK.
