Corny keg posts

I have a 10 litre mbw keg, are the gas in and beer out post the same as I may have got them mixed up. How do I tell them apart

They're different. The gas post usually has a notch on it by the base.

If you get them mixed up can be a pain to get a stuck disconnect off.

Does the top of the poppet valves look any different

The poppets and springs inside each post are the same. It's just the post itself that are slightly different.
