Hi All
I recently bought a 24kw heating element for my kettle, from a home brew website and after only a few brews I have noticed a black reside has appeared by the around the element and the solder on the element appears to have blackend. I have taken the element out of my kettle to have a better look and even the bolt screws into the element is showing signs of rust. I have used elements before and I have never come across anything that has reacted like this, especially after just a couple of brews. I have attached a couple of images to show what it looks like

Does anyone know what could have caused this and should I stop using it as soon as possible? Also does anyone know where I can get a heating element that can be used with wort?

Thanks

Neil
