Slow start in the brewcave today but felt like a last chance to get a lager on ahead of spring bank holiday.

Basically a Smash of Bohemian Pilsner and Saaz. The first problem was latest bag of hops was only 2.5 alpha. Found some from last year with 4 AA so mix and match to about 25 IBUs.

Seamless brew day apart from despite spending ages thinking about the water forgetting to put the CRS in until 10 minutes into the mash and which point opened up tun and stirred in costing me a degree in temperature so mashed at 64C.

Now sat with doors open waiting for ambient temperature to drop to 12 but have just pitched at 18c with MJ bohemian yeast - assuming it gets cold enough planning to do Bulosophy method.

Mad being in South London when I look at weather in Cumbria.

Hit 1048 which was what I was after ( 4kg malt, 21L in FV).

Bit of a stuck sparge, grain bed seemed a bit different from my usial MO base brews.

We will see ....
