I've been brewing on and off since the 1970's .... yes, I've been around a while now:hat:

All my gear to date has been a bit Heath Robinson style, nearest I got was a Buffalo boiler with a ball valve tap and a stainless cooling coil!

Mrs C finally got me to go for an all in one brewing system!

What a difference, thoroughly enjoyed playing with the Brew Monk, incredibly easy to get on with and just as much fun. Not a single thing about it I could fault to be honest. I spent ages trying to decide which system to go for, yes cost did come into it of course, (must say big thanks to David Hatton on the forum here for answering my questions, very helpful indeed 👍 ) but got the Brew Monk a couple of weeks ago.

Went for one of my standard bitters, with a tweak of late hops, 15 litre brew

Pale ale malt 3 kg
Wheat malt 400g
Toasted malt 100g

EKG and Fuggles 15 g each at 45 mins
Citra and Bavarian Mandarin 20 g each at flame out.

Nottingham yeast

60 min 2 step mash 60° and 70°
45 minute boil

OG was predicted at 1.053 but I got to 1.050
Shouldn't be very far off the predicted 5.21% ABV

All in all a very enjoyable first outing with the Monk 🧙‍♂️

All in one systems are a godsend to people who are short of time. I got mine over 3 years ago and would not go back to a 3 tier system although for the purists they are good too.
I tend to throw in a little cascade at the end for some of my bitters too
