Hey guys

I am a big fan of guitar solos - I would love to know all you rock fans favourites.

Mine aren't strictly rock, but nevertheless are worthy of a mention.

My faves are:-

Let's get rocked - Def Leppard
Chesney Hawkes - The one and only
Guns N Roses - November Rain (number 1)
Bon Jovi - Dry County

Jim's favourite - Sweet Child O'Mine - needs no explanation.

Naturally, if anyone talks through them, they get silenced!

What do you think is worthy of a mention?

What are yours?

I’m not counting duets so Freebird, Hotel California and Alter Bridges Blackbird lose out, and in no particular order.

Alex Skolnic - Powerslave/Testament
Relatively faithful cover of of Dave Murray’s best guitar solo but with a whole load of Skolnic magic thrown in. Actually, this is my favourite solo of all time

Nuno Bettencourt - Get The Funk Out/Extreme
The first time I heard anybody do 2-handed tapping and it blew me away

Steve Vai - For The Love Of God
Easily my favourite guitarist, from his Zappa days through Dave Lee Roth and beyond. The ‘burl’ 3/4 of the way through is impossible to recreate, I’ve tried. You basically hit your tremolo arm like you did with rulers on the desktop at school and Vai magic come out of your guitar……if your Steve Vai

Jimmy Page - Since I’ve Been Loving You/Led Zeppelin
Blues in straight C-minor rather than the relative Dorian key (notes from Emaj scale rather than A-flat maj) one of the reasons it has such an original sound. The other is the awesome solo, easily Pages best in my book.

Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower
Nuff said

Edited to correct glaring errors!!
