Find an image you would like to use as an avatar, if you use google images use the visit page link as linking to the picture in google image search doesn't work.
The maximum size of your custom image is 150 by 150 pixels or 19.5 KB. (i have been told some members are seeing 125 x 125 as the limit)
Right click on the image and from the options given choose "copy image URL" or whatever option your browser gives you.
Go to "my account" (top of the page) click on "edit avatar" remove "http://www." under Option 1 - Enter the URL you copied above and click save.
