I started an apple wine and after adding all the ingreidents and the apples took a reading on the hydrometer it read 1090 i let it ferment on the pulp for 3 days and then strained off the apple pulp and took another reading it was 1040. Does this seem right to you ? I didnt think it would have dropped so much in 3 days.

Healthy yeasties, everything they like (a good mix of nutrients and a bit of acid), favourable temperature, 50 point drop in 3 days is nothing unusual :thumb:

That is good to know i can relax and let it do its thing now would 1000 be the final reading i would want or is it down to taste ?
