I was gifted a basic cider making kit with a generic cider concentrate pouch.

I made it as per the instructions, was paranoid about temperature so used a fish tank heater to keep it constant.

Fermented out fine left it 2 weeks then transferred it to another fv added priming sugar.

Carbonated nicely, PET bottles went hard left 2 weeks at room temp then transferred to garage for cold storage.

After 5 weeks tried it, was underwhelming, yes had fizz but very thin and watery, kinda tasteless.

Gave it another week son added some sweetener 1/2 teaspoon and it came alive tasted like cider.

fast forward 3 weeks so 4 weeks in cold storage and its lovely! much better apple taste dry but not too much very nice indeed.

So lesson learned (yes i have red this) LET IT AGE

This is how all modern commercial cider tastes like to me.

It's become quite a quest to find a decent ones from smaller independent places.

I am quite impressed after it has aged not just fizzy water like some ciders, its dry but not terrible and has flavour getting better longer it sits, let put it this way i have not bought any cider form the shops since

Admittedly I've only done one cider kit but found it underwhelming and artificial. Much prefer turbo cider from supermarket apple juice.
