Being the tight **** I am, I've got a couple of mini kegs I'd like to save from the bin if possible.

My dad gave me a couple of empties that he'd had some Fuller's in. They were rinsed out, but the bungs had been thrown away. I put them in a sealed plastic box in the shed to keep anything out.

I had a tidy up the other day and checked them, they'd gone mouldy on the outside and smelt musty. I cleaned them, then filled with hot soapy water and left to soak, but it's not improved much.

They seem to be lined with something brown, which I guess seals it and I am wary of damaging it.

Anyone tried cleaning with bleach solution and if so, in what quantity? Or am I best just to chuck them?

Cheers.

Thanks chaps. Will give that a try.

Think i'll rinse out with star san before storing them next time. Bit wary of leaving any star san in them though, for reasons above, plus I don't imagine it would do the rubber seals much good.
