Lovely stuff! I fancied some of them but I beleive they are slightly wider than a cornie? I only have about 1" gap in the keg fridge to fit two cornies in so may be too big.

Can they be supplied with non-safety spears?

 shinyyyy

Nice one Bob, are they a better option than the cornies for price and availability??

Price wise they are about the same, but new and shiney. Well okay not quite shiney, but they look the bees knees.

They are slightly wider than cornies. 235 mm. They do come with safety spears, but you can have then delivered without the spears inserted. It's easy to take the safety off before you insert them.

With some jigery pokery you can get the safety spears out and grind them off. Makes not difference unless you have to do 150 :|

Lovely! I hope you and your hareem have a happy life together!

I'm currently considering their cheap ugly cousin, the 20L kegs from Brewery Plastics, only £35 each including spar plus shipping or collection - no minimum order.

Safety spear? What do they do? Is it safe to remove them, and if so, how do you do it?

Dennis

The spears have a safety tab so that when you unscrew them they don't blow your face off if the keg still has pressure inside. To remove a spear you need a socket with 2 tabs cut out to lock onto the tabs on the spear. Then unscrew. Assuming the keg has been depressurised, the tabs can be retracted with a thin screwdriver. However I intend to remove the safety tabs before insertion. This makes it easier for me, but is an inherently dangerous practice and the internal pressure must be vented prior to unscrewing the spear.

The safety clips on these can either be cut with a bolt cutters , a hacksaw or pull the clip off with a pair of pliers.

A couple of vids, poor camera control but it will give you an idea.

And just encase, Me taking a spear out (of my own keg bought and paid for with paperwork).

NOTE there is NO PRESSURE in the Keg.

Excuse the boots I was gardening this morning.

The vids on 53 seconds from start to finish..
