If i remember correctly the battery was in the boot on the early minis.

I can just remember that winter. We lived on a road that was on a hill and my dad dug a trench down the road in the snow to meet the milkman who was digging a trench up the road.
I remember the snow being taller than me when standing in the trench.

This almost happened to a mate of mines car in about 1980. We were outside Harrods in the west end in a mini and there was sa sudden smell of petrol. We stopped and lifted the bonnet to find a broken petrol line and fuel, being sprayed over the engine.
