Tannin , Strong Tea

I,ve noticed a lot of people mix a strong tea to add to any Turbo Cider they make .
I have never done this and mine turns out quite well .
Is it a neccessity to add it or is it just to darken the cider a little ?
Can you taste the tea ?
It may seem like a stupid question but i,m just curious as to why people add it

I add it but don't really know why haha, maybe for body?

Hmm I've made cider kits and there's no mention of tannin/tea there (unless it's mixed in with the concentrate?)

Wow , my brain has just had a scientific overload hahaha .
Best crack open a bottle of Cider to calm it down .
