On my brew pot there's a washer, which I think was meant to be a silicone one (don't think it's actually silicone) on the outside of the pot which the ball valve goes into. This has split and needs replacing. I thought I read somewhere about getting a silicone baking sheet and cutting one out, but I have some "extra thick PTFE coated none stick fabric" which claims to be heat resistant to 260 degrees C. It's used (i think) to line ovens so they don't need cleaning all the time.

Would this be suitable for cutting up to make a washer?

PTFE is foodsafe afaik, in fact a cardboard washer wrapped generously with ptfe tape is another alternative, when hot the tape contracts sealing in the card core ;)
