Its a cracking day up here, so here's a picture of my outdoor saison mashing

And although this doesn't count as brewing, here's a photo of my latest stout that I bottled this morning

Started with GH Cornish Tin Miner's Ale but adapted (changed beyond recognition) to use up some odds and ends for a 7 litre stove top brew:

Maris Otter 1583g
Crystal 170g
Brown 50g

Start of boil: 15g Challenger
10 mins from end: 7g Bramling Cross
End of boil: 7g Bramling Cross

Yeast: Safale S04

Boiled down a bit too much so added 1 litre boiling water before cooling. OG 1.056, a couple of points below target.

A very welcome visit from my son this weekend, which led to considerable inroads into my stocks! So today just knocking out another quick batch of parsnip stout. Will be brewing another batch of bitter later this week.

Made an Oatmeal Stout today with the Oats from our emergency kit from lockdown and leftovers from other brews (Golden Promise, Mild Malt, Roasted Barley, and Chocolate Malt). Bittered with leftover EKG and Fuggles. Ended-up with 24litres @ 1.056 and pitched on top of a yeast cake of a Mild kegged today using S-04.

Misc Bill

Another batch of bitter today. I think I'm getting close to a recipe I like; a process of small tweaks. The last batch I brewed had a very disappointing BHE, worse than I normally achieve; I'm hoping that was an outlier, and I will do better this time!

An American Pale using exp. 09326 hops. Lovely fruity aroma from the hops. Read they might impart harsh bitterness (Brulosophy) so I used hop bags for the first time and pulled them before I no chilled.
