Morning all.
Quick question. I’m getting a yeast starter on today for an Oktoberfest brew tomorrow. The fermentation temperature for the brew is recommended around 11C. Do I need to make my starter at the same temperature?

Purists will say yes, but I think you are actually fine to just do it at ale/room temps as you are building the cells.

I would if possible decant the fermented wort though before pitching if you can
 
The yeast starter is there to build up the yeast and isn't for flavour so the guidance I've read previously is on making the starter at the upper end of the temperature recommended for the yeast, which will vary. In practice, I've always found room temperature works fine.

We dont make beer or wine the yeast do.
11c is a bit chilly to get a culture going.

Just dont plunge it into sudden cold.Gradually introduce it to its new cooler enviroment
