    CML yeast recommendation

Thought I'd post about my experiences of using some of the cml dried yeast strains: Beoir- Fermented out a sub 5% abv bitter within a week. Good. Some nice flavours from the yeast. Midland- again in the bitter. fermented out reliably and a bit further; bit less flavour interest from the yeast...

Two more new kits from Mangrove Jacks

I brewed the spiced Belgian dubbel back in November. It didnt taste “ready” at Xmas time and I still don’t like it. Reminds me of cola. It’s likely going down the sink. luckily I’ve recently brewed a nice kolsch.

    Flavour and Balance

So decided to brew something a bit darker. Originally going to be an Irish Red ale so got some Imperial Darkness and some Wyeast Denny's Favourite 50 as I split the batch. Had been reading Session Beers by Jennifer Talley and within it is recipe for an English Amber Ale. Its quite close to an...

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

Golden ale bitter type thing. Starting to really appreciate English hop varieties and might move away from the American styles once stocks deplete.

Recommend me a low alcohol (1% or less) commercial brew

I like Pistonhead Flat Tire. It’s mosaic hopped. Easy to drink 3 in a row but that’s about my limit on AF. Budvar Nealko is acceptable

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

Pint of Bitter. My first attempt. Poured vigorously to make it look nice/better. Drank half of it in 5 minutes so it’s not too far off the style😁

    English IPA dry hop

I’ve only started on one keg so no direct comparison at the moment. I’m on the Verdant IPA one first. It’s been in the keg a few weeks now and is still improving. I’m fermenting a bitter with the Verdant IPA yeast just now and ive just ordered more of it likely destined for a pale ale. Get a bit...

    English IPA dry hop

I went with cascade. Turned out quite well. Maybe the dry hop hides some of the kettle hop character though. It’s 6.8% so should condition well with time.

    James Morton Oatmeal Extra Pale

I brewed this 2 weeks ago with slight variations on the recipe. Ticks all the boxes for a NEIPA.

    English IPA dry hop

Any advice for dry hopping an English style IPA, generously late hopped with Challenger? OG - 1.058. Maris, Crystal and malted Wheat. Maybe a touch too much Crystal. Its a little sweet out the fermenter. Fermented with Verdant IPA in half and London III in the other. Pellet hops I have to hand...
