I am about to carryout my first AG brew taken from GH book. It is a EKG single hop ale modified for a 13lt brew. Here is the the recipe could anyone look it over and offer comments Thanks
Batch size 13.5l
Boil size 19.52l
boil time 60min
Est OG 1.050
Est FG 1.013
Est ABV 4.9%
Bitterness 43.7IBUs
3KG pale malt
150g Caramel/Crystal malt 10L
29.5g EKG @60min
14.35g EKG@15min
44g EKG at steep
Whirlflock@15min
Safbrew S33 yeast
Mash water 12.78l @ 71℃ for 60min
Now beersmith says for sparge in two stages
1st 1.27l @ 75.6℃
2nd 10.9l @ 75.6℃
does this mean that i just add 1.27l after the 60min mash and then draw off wort.

Assuming you have just scaled back the recipe from 23 litres to 13 litres pro rate then you should be good.

What kit are you using ? what size boiler, and assume you using a mashtun (not BIAB) ?

Assuming a mashtun, I would keep your first brew simple and just batch sparge - ie do your 1hour mash and run off to the boiler, then add all your sparge water into the mashtun, gentle stir then leave for 15-20 mins then run that off to the boiler.

Hope this helps, enjoy your brew day
