The way to do it is to have slightly higher pressure ( IN THE KEG )before you start, then with the keg on the floor and the fermenter on a worktop connect the two gas posts. That will equalise the pressure without releasing any gas from the fermenter. Now connect the two liquid posts.
Finally lift the prv valve gently on the keg (briefly) which will start the flow gravity will do the rest. 🍻
I've done a few brews now following your advice and it's been hassle-free since then. The only thing is add is about getting the floating dip tube to the right length. I was afraid to take too much off it but I've been trimming it down bit by bit and it doesn't get caught up at the side while still getting right to the bottom.

Oh Yeah.... pulling prv would solve the issue with starsan.

Would a 3rd mini keg before the starsan keg be a good idea? I am thinking here as a filter kind a thing as well as collecting vessel. If krausen were to get into the top and through the fittings etc....

I have used pet bottle with those kegland fittings as a trap between the fermzilla and the keg filled with starsan in case the krausen gets to high. But it's never been needed so far.

Totally... that makes sense. I suppose it's better to have it and not need it than the other way around. Without it keg of starsan could be wasted.... well maybe.... 😀

that is cheap and effective way. What was the max psi you could achieve?

I don't know what the max would be, but I did push it to 25 PSI on one occasion. I never need to go beyond that.

I tend to do that as well, mostly for monitoring activity rather than to catch any blow out. I take it out of line before I start a cold crash and then just use the keg as a CO2 reservoir.
