I have just made my first homebrew which was a coopers lager kit. This is not a true lager and tastes more like a light beer to me. I like hoppy beers like hopping hare. If i did the same kit again but added some hops into the mix would this turn out ok?

That's what I do with my Coopers IPA kits, boil an ounce (or whatever) of your chosen hops in an amount of water for X minutes. This makes a "hop tea". You can then use it to rinse out your can of malt extract or whatever. Just make sure it ends up in the fermenter with every else and Bob's your uncle.

its very possible! you will need a decent quantity because hops don't utilize well in small amounts of water. you can dry hop for more aroma which is easy peasy, or you can use isometrized hop extract from your local home brew place or online store for instant bitterness.
