I am thinking of doing the Coopers Real Ale kit but i would liek to try dry hopping as i do like a hoppy flavour.

So, which hops would you recommend?

Also, how many should i use for a 40 pint batch?

Thanks.

Hops are generally classified as 'bittering' or 'aroma', and some are classed as 'dual purpose'.

You want to use ones that are described as 'aroma'.

Goldings is an obvious on to use to dry hop, but there are many other varieties. It's really up to you which you go for.

For a 40 pint batch it all depends on how much aroma you want. I generally find that 1oz is plenty, for a big IPA sometimes I'll go with 2oz.

As for what kind of hop go with an aroma hop and just pick one you like. I personally like a Willamette which is similar to a fugal. Just pick something you like or one that will go with the style of beer you brewed.

On thing that I do for dry hoping is I always use pellet hops. Leaf hops can really plug up a siphon.
