I’m new to home brew having completed a couple of brews with an element of success bottling wanted to dabble in kegging with a mini keg
I have bought a 5l mini keg growler type with a Co2 tap
I have a AIPA about Finished fermentation and plan to keg 5l and bottle the rest

  1. Do I still use priming sugar ,I was going to batch prime using a bottling bucket .
    1. My festival kit said to keg and add priming sugar
  2. Do I just put the cap on the keg until it’s conditioned then fit the tap ?
  3. Once the tap is fitted with the gas will the brew keep ok for a couple of weeks ?
I think I’m getting confused between force carbonating & conditioning

In answer to your questions:
  1. Yes. (I used no more than 3g per litre of brewing sugar but others may go higher.)
  2. Yes, as long as:
    1. You use a "Grey" cap. (With a red cap you can't use the tap.)
    2. You make sure that inserting the tap wand won't over-pressurise the keg. (I used to pull a pint off the bottom tap before introducing the wand.)
  3. Yes. At least two weeks. (However, I moved away from 5 litre kegs because they sometimes only lasted a few days!)
Hope this helps.
