My Inkbird probe slipped off the side of my FV overnight. The result is the tube heater kicked in for about 5 hours solid taking the temp inside the FV to about 27C. This then resulted in a .002 drop in gravity over the same period.

Is it likely to be ruined or is this salvageable?

Also, how long has it been fermenting?
An increase in temp towards the end of fermentation can actually be a good thing.

How long has it been fermenting and what yeast is it? What style?

If it’s towards the end of fermentation it probably won’t make much difference with off flavours etc, and some yeasts are more tolerant to temperature fluctuations than others. Hoppy styles might mask any bad flavours that the stressed yeast has caused too.

The only way to find out really is to wait until it’s fermented, carbonated and conditioned.

It’s a Young’s American Porter.

It was 1.015 last night and it’s 1.013 this morning. They recommend racking at 1.011 I think.

It was textbook fermentation until this 🥲
