Have decided to take advantage of the wilko sales and get something easy drinking to give to normie beer consumer friends before nights out etc so picked up a geordie lager kit. Will do the regular hacks - some ultra hops in a short boil and dry, along with some dme and maybe some carapils (if anyone would recommend).

Just curious what the consensus is on the yeast provided with lager kits. Obviously it's not a true lager yeast but do we think it would do better than Nottingham, bearing in mind I could keep the temp at 14C and make the most of Notty's supposed lager like properties.

Cheers

Nottingham every time if you are making a pseudo lager; double pitching sounds sensible.

In used to do a cracking brew with Cooper's Canadian Blonde, light DME and saaz hops, fermented about 17 degrees with notty.
