Lavender in beer?

Has anyone used lavender in beer? If so how did you add it and how much? I was thinking of throwing some in 10 mins before the end of the boil and/or making a tincture and adding that to the beer.
 
I would think adding post fermentation would be a much more controllable process. Lavender is very tricky in any food or drink I find. Soak some in vodka then add that at packaging stage. If you boil lavender I would imagine it taking on that "cooked" flavour very quickly.
