Hi,

I’m planning on putting some beer into a mini keg, do I prime with sugar as I would do with a plastic keg or simply rely on the CO2 from the sparklet?

Mike

For me it depends on the type of lid on the mini keg.

If it's a normal screw top, then I'll sugar prime. When it's time to dispense, make sure the keg is cold, then unscrew the top and attach your tap as quickly as possible.

With a quick connect spear type lid, then I tend to carbonate the same way as I would a larger keg. Specifically, connect CO2 at the desired pressure and leave connected for 10 days or two weeks.

You could still sugar prime if you didn't have enough CO2 connections to go around. Sometimes I have too many mini kegs on the go at once and have to do this.
