Hi All,

I'm planning on brewing an IPA tomorrow on top of a Kviek Lallemand Yeast cake. Do I literally just dump the fresh wort on top of it. I usually drain from a height into the fermenter to get lots of oxygen in to the wort. Will I do this differently as it will upset the trub?

Thanks in advance!

Richard

Pitching onto a whole fresh yeast cake for any typical 1.040-1.060 batch is a large overpitch with regular yeasts. I usually take 1/3 of the yeast cake only. From all the info you see on kveik, it's best to massively underpitch. So I'd expect about a tablespoon of yeast cake would be enough.

You'll need to ask someone with experience of kveik.

I'm about to use Lallemand Voss for the first time. i'd be grateful for people's thoughts when it comes to pitching levels and reuse quantities, too.
