Hi,

I am new to home brewing and have just barrelled my second "attempt" at brewing beer. I'm brewing from a kit.

My question is: when I move my barrel from its warm place to its cool place I seem to loose all pressure in the barrel. There seems to be plenty when it's warm but a couple of days after its been in its cool place it's gone. Is my cool place too cold? It's in the garage but it has been rather cold of late?

Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks

Mark

Hi Mark,

Likely nothing to worry about. You create pressure during secondary fermentation and that forces some CO2 into solution. Fizz.

When you drop the temperature you firstly decrease the pressure (can't remember who's law that is...) but you also increase the amount of CO2 that can be dissolved into your beer.

If your barrel can be pressurised with external CO2 then just give it a blast when it's cooled down to keep the pressure up for serving.

Oh, and welcome!
