Later today I hope to be brewing this

Pale malt 4kg
Caramalt 330g
Wheat malt 250g
Fuggles 2% AA 130g
First gold 6% AA 25g

At 75% efficiency I am hoping for 20L at 5% abv with about 50 IBU
Thanks go to Paul at Barley bottom for getting the caramalt and first to gold to me in time to brew :thumb:
Mash liquor has been treated and is sat in the HLT with the timer set, so dough in should be around 9 ish after I have dropped the kids off at school

I'll try for pics through out the brew :)

Well I got home after dropping the kids off at school and found my mash liquor boiling
perhaps its time to fit a thermostat as well as a timer to the HLT :wha:
Anyway after a bit of fiddling mash got underway at 9.30.

Bang on target temperature :D

MEB the caramalt adds sweetness and body in the same way as crystal malt but without the colour or roasty flavour :thumb:

T-S. Thanks, i might have to have a play with some of that

Good luck with the brew

Some more.
No discernible temperature drop (in the centre of the mash) over 90 minutes :D

Looks interesting-what's the caramalt add?
Caramalt used to be the lightest kilned of all the crystal malts . . . . as such it adds sweetness and body, but little colour . . . more golden than red . . . I find it less cloying than Crystal, but it does give a lot of body even in low gravity beers.

All done and dusted :D

Turned out darker than I was hoping for :wha:

Nicely aerated though

I ended up with 21 Litres at 1.056 :D

It looks like extending the mash by 1/2 an hour has increased my efficiency

that's a super clear wort

how long was the boil and what kettle finings did you use?

let us know if you get cauliflower or not :thumb:

methinks i'll be switching to 90 min boils in future

Are you a priest TS
