Anyone know if you can get sodium levels down from water that's been through a softener? My level is 160 ppm. I think I got a handle on the rest of my water chemistry.

You could either dilute it with RO water or better yet don't put it through the softener. Hard water is good for brewing, and when you put it through the softener you are removing calcium which you want and replacing it with sodium which you don't.

Thanks for the info. I'm just trying to avoid fetching water. I'd use my well water but theres so much iron in it, that if I don't run it thru the softener, the water turns rusty and cloudy when it gets heated up. I'm probably going to end up having to go get water from a spring. Its a bit of a jaunt but whats a guy to do. Might have to start pricing an RO system.
