I've never tried this before but would like to give it a go. Do I just throw the Rye in with the malted barley mash or do I have to do a seperate (lower temperature) mash then add it to the bulk of the grain bill mash (like I do with a Glucan mash when using rolled oats)?

Any help, or tips for a recipe, would be appreciated.

Cheers

Rye IPAs are very nice. I just add it right to the mash with the rest of the grain. I can get you a recipe if you like.

Hi phettebs, Thanks for that, yes a recipe would give me a base-line for me to formulate my own recipe from.

American Rye IPA
OG: 1.077
IBU: 62

4990g Pale Malt
1361g Rye Malt
567g Crystal 60 (medium)
227g Carapils
227g White Wheat Malt

28.4g Mt. Hood First Wort Hop
28.4g Columbus @60 min
14.2g Mt. Hood @20 min
42.5g Mt. Hood @0 min
28.4g Columbus dry hop 21 days

Mash @67.2C

I used Wyeast 1272 but 1056, US05, or any American Ale yeast would work. Good luck!

Baz
