Anyone else remember these? I think they were called semi dons or something like that - I suppose they're all made out of plastic and what not these days.........progress eh?

Can anyone remember having a "tranny", well before the idea of transgender was even a twinkle in its mummy's eye?

I had several.

Who remembers listening to Radio Luxemburg on their transistor radio the signal used to come and go but the station was the business.

They are demijohns, and I still have several in the loft dating back to when I used to make country wines (blackberry, elderberry etc). I have used them more recently for large batches of sloe and/or damson gin 🤪

Anyone remember these little monkeys?

These old pennies were about a foot across and weighed half a CWT if I remember correctly.

My aunt lived in a house with my grandad up to the early 1960s with no electricity. They had gas mantles on the wall for lighting, and she still did her weekly wash with a washing dolly in a galvanised metal tub She wrung it out using a hand operated mangle. The water was heated in a very large black kettle on the coal fired kitchen range. Its hard to believe but I can still remember visiting as a young boy and watching her using these things.

Yea and i remember this when we got rid in 1971 -

That's horrendous, Chippy. You've scarred my soul with that one. I don't recall ever having heard it although I can remember ever word (almost) of the song used in Australia in 1966. To the tune of "Click Go the Shears".

What did you own or use back in the day that the youth of today wouldn't believe existed if you told them today.
