Muntons connoisseurs continental lager. Worst kit ever. Even though I am slightly embarrassed by my lack of general beer knowledge and overall brewing nievety in this post (i.e. I clearly didn't know what a pale ale was - but then we all have to start our brewing journey somewhere), I stand by my general ranty review of this kit.

It was truly terrible. Connoisseur my a**e.

Evil Dog IPA or St Peter's Cream Stout. The Evil Dog managed to have no discernable hop aroma in spite of a big dry hop and tasted more like a failed Belgian golden strong ale than an IPA, and the St Peter's was so far away from their actual cream stout it's surprising no-one has gone after them under the trade descriptions act - the kit doesn't even use the same hops as the commercial beer.
