Well as some know me for a few years now, and I must admit I don't rush Into anything...specially now that my brain is not fixed!! Lol
So there's things I'm not rushing into and there:
1. Finalise the milk choc stout...need it confirmed for 23l..and I'm missing the hops weight? PLEASE HELP?
2. Need the water report n a kit if needed to get the brew sorted..I know nowt about the water...PLEASE HELP?
3. I want the fermintation to get right, so a ferm chamber is ongoing!!!
4. And getting a full day of brewing is doing my head in...weights the ingredients last nite..more on the floor! One handed is not as easy I thought! Lol the rest of the ingredients should be delivered today.
Any help would be appreciated

1 - depends how bitter you want it to be and what the AAs of your hops are. Stouts typically aren't very bitter, somewhere between 20 and 40 depending on the style of stout.
2 - If I were you I wouldn't worry about water treatment for your first brew or two, get comfortable with your new equipment and processes then worry about water. You'll still end up with a decent beer without water treatment.

Looks good. I hope that is 270g lactose you'll be adding, and not lactic acid.

Might be an idea to do pre packed mash kits, most of the mail order home brew shops do them, you can add extra grain to it then knowing that the base brew is going to be consistent with just whatever malt you add setting it apart.

We'll eventually I got my final ingredients...
Bet your wondering when the brew day is going to be ??
Think tomorrow is the brew day?? If our lass is at work...not sure.
Might set up the mash water on timer, after sanintizing etc..get the recipe layed out and the craptop ready.
Or just get up at early nuff...coz thinking our lass get up for a shower 5am lol
And the bathroom is the area..
The only thing is the boil down wort to add nearly at the end of the boil, can't remember if it important or not??
Atb
I'll keep u in the loop!

Well it's been an exiting night!!
What thing I forgot is the Irish moss...any probs on that?
Brew day turned into brewnite
Set up was easy..taking my time of course.
Heated the mass water then sparge water before taking our lass to work

Ingredients measured ages ago ready

Then slowly mixed the grains

Then 60 mins and I can relax a little..
I must admit that the ammout of water would be too much...but I shouldn't of worried.
Sparge water want a big thing, slowly done it and put the boiler to boil.
Ready to boil..

No dramas of a rolling break and the hops added and then 60 mins commenced

All in all this is been an easy experience and the GF is truly amazing..
Only thing was the mash pump connections tends to get stuck with the heat so had to use a mole grips and use the connection with one hand..
Got a tadge under 23l and no probs getting it upstairs...my workout to the day.
1.047 but the refraction thingy the reading is too small for my bad eyes so used the hydromentor.
Pitch the no probs and insulated blanket and wet towel heat pad and the ice ice bird set...tidy up was another thing lol but I enjoyed the whole experience..
Thx for waiting for my brewday
